For over three decades, Misa Hylton has been the Fashion Architect responsible for laying the blueprint that has immortalized hip hop culture’s place and influence in the mainstream fashion industry. Today she continues to revolutionize fashion at various levels – collaborating with luxury fashion house MCM and Macy’s, styling private celebrity clients, featuring as a commentary subject in two documentaries that journeys through the life of top hip hop and fashion influencers, and partnering with brands including Disney, Gucci, Lacoste, and Nike. Her trendsetting work has appeared at red carpet events, in music videos, and on the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Essence, and Instyle, consequently inspiring international fashion houses and mainstream apparel lines to follow suit. From the jaw dropping purple pastie-and-pantsuit ensemble immortalized by ​Lil’ Kim at MTV’s 1999 VMAs to Beyoncé’s leather MCM bustier and trench coat for the 2018 video “Apeshit”. Misa Hylton has created iconic moments in fashion for artists including Sean Combs, Missy Elliot, ​50 Cent, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige and Kimora Lee Simmons.

Throughout her career in the industry, Misa has mentored and groomed a multitude of stylists, many of whom are responsible for crafting the images of some of today’s hottest and most memorable stars! Through this experience, Misa discovered her passion for sharing her expertise and educating aspiring stylists, by providing not only the practical skills needed for success but also the knowledge and frame of reference necessary to achieve excellence.

In 2012 she founded the Misa Hylton Fashion Academy (MHFA). Her vision to develop an institution that supports creativity, free-thinking, and the importance of a solid education is still her driving force and motivation. Misa continues to powerfully inspire and contribute to the fashion world at large.
